Hangeki isn't possible with heavy weapons - by the time the Samurai can get a heavy sword into position to take advantage of the opening in his enemy's defense, the opening will already have closed. The heaviest unbalanced weapon a Samurai can perform Hangeki with is 4kg, although a balanced 5kg weapon can also be used.
